Victims of Crime may be Any Gender, Age, Race, or ethnicity. Victimization may happen to an individual, family, group, or community; and a crime itself may be to a person or property. The impact of a crime on a victim, their loved ones, and their community depends on a variety of factors, but often Victimization has significant, Emotional, Psychological, Physical, financial and Social Consequences.

You Have the Right to:

  • Be informed.
  • Be Heard.
  • Participate in the justice system.
  • Be informed about compensation.
  • Be informed about social service agencies.
  • Be free from intimidation.
  • Take leave from work to receive help or services related to domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking or dating violence. For Tribal employees 6.20 in handbook and Washington State RCW 49.76.

How Can an Advocate Help?

Crime Victim Advocates respects and works to protect the civil and legal rights of crime victims. Crime victim advocates respond to the physical, psychological, emotional, economic, legal, and social impacts of crime on victims, their family friends and immediate support system. Victim Advocates will support and assist you throughout the entire criminal justice process, navigating your path as you cope with the chaos that surrounds following a criminal act against you.

1-877-846-3492, visiting www.vinelink.com or clicking on the link on the in custody jail roster you can find out the custody status of an offender. You may so register to be notified by phone and/ or email if/when the custody status of the offender changes. Your Advocate can assist you with more information and registration process.


Compensation

The Crime victim’s compensation program can help pay bills and expenses that result from certain violent crimes. If you have been injured or if someone in your family has been killed or injured you may be eligible for assistance.
